Philadelphia Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc., or OIC is seeking a President & CEO who provides leadership, oversight, and management of the mission and goals of the organization. This role is an internal and external spokesperson, drawing a wide variety of audiences to Philadelphia OIC to enhance its visibility, mission, and opportunities for fundraising to sustain and expand the programs that have made Philadelphia OIC a community resource. 

The ideal candidate for this role leads by example. They will be able to hold a big picture perspective but will also jump in to become familiar with all aspects of the business, and to support the team with whatever they need to be successful.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The President & CEO role has several key functions, including: 

Leadership: With the values of Philadelphia OIC in mind, the President & CEO leads the organization in the implementation of the mission, vision, financial goals, and overall strategic plan. This role will work with the Board of Directors to develop the strategic plan over time and provide recommendations for improvement. The President & CEO inspires staff and volunteers to exemplify and champion Philadelphia OIC’s mission and values.

Fundraising: The President & CEO leads, develops, and oversees all fundraising activities and income-earning programs that bring money into the organization. The President & CEO is charged to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners. This individual will leverage their own network for fundraising opportunities where possible and will promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and board level. 

Programming: The President & CEO oversees the programmatic vision for the organization and ensures it continues to run according to the Company standard for excellence. This role provides vision and guidance around creating innovative programming, assesses community needs for programming, and provides guidance and support to staff where necessary.  

Human Resources, Operational (Administrative) and Financial Management: The President & CEO oversees the hiring, professional development, annual performance reviews, compensation, and termination of staff. This role oversees the Operations, Workforce Development, and Education departments. This position helps to create, and approve the annual budget. The CEO & President is expected to complete financial and operation duties as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS

The best President & CEO candidate will:

  • Demonstrate an interest in working with/for the benefactors/stakeholders of Philadelphia and surrounding communities in furtherance of the mission, vision, and values of Philadelphia OIC.
  • Be curious, bring people together, rely on the expertise of others, and build teams who are all a part of the program’s success.
  • Be a strong communicator who is a credible external spokesperson for the organization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work authentically and successfully in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Be a hands-on leader, who is detail oriented, adaptable, organized, and able to successfully manage people, multiple projects, and tasks.
  • Lead with integrity 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required:

  • 7 plus years in senior management and leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree in related field preferred. 
  • Understanding of diverse communities; a confident, respected leader, and proven people manager who can gain the confidence of the Board of Philadelphia OIC, Inc., employees, key stakeholders, and elected officials.
  • Strong development and fundraising skills including donor cultivation and stewardship, grant development, planned giving, major gifts and both capital and operating campaign experience.
  • Existing relationships with key and influential philanthropic decision makers.
  • Current or previous experience serving on a non-profit Board or with a non-profit organization preferred 
  • Must be available for some nights and weekends for company events
