Position Summary:

The Employment Specialist isresponsible for providing workforce development services to participants of theAdult Services Reentry Program. Specifically, the Employment Specialist createsrelationships with employment partners and then works as a liaison between themand program participants to match participants with open positions. TheEmployment Specialists also conduct mock interviews, create resumes, and conductjob fairs.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·      Matching job openings tocandidates 

·      Maintaining candidatedatabases 

·      Conducting outreach via email andphone 

·      Testing skills, conducting mockinterviews, and creating resumes 

·      Developing professionalrelationships with employers and placement agencies 

·      Monitoring job performance andwage levels 

·      Referring clients to benefitscounseling

·      Helping clients report earnings

·      Assessing clients' vocationalfunctioning

 

Qualifications/Skills:

▪      Knowledge of currentlabor market trends, including appropriate compensation and benefits for positions.

▪      Awareness ofproper resume formatting and style.

▪      Strong research, writingand editing skills.

▪      Outstandingorganizational skills.

▪      Excellent verbal,written and interpersonal communication skills.

▪      Patience whenworking with novice job seekers.

▪      Solid negotiationand persuasive skills.

▪      Computer literacy in word processing, email,Internet, database usage and spreadsheets.

▪      Ability to maintain confidentiality withsensitive information.

 

Education:

▪      Bachelor's degreein human resources, Employee Relations, Business, or a related field.

 

Additional Requirements:

• 2-3 years of related experience.

• Reliable Transportation.

• Commitment to Philadelphia OIC’s mission.

• Ability to work effectively with people ofdiverse educational and cultural backgrounds, from reentrants to publicofficials.

•  Willingness and ability to travel within the city ofPhiladelphia and surrounding communities.

•  Knowledge of the criminal justicesystem and/or experience with reentrants is preferred.
